"I would absolutely recommend Ozark Energy Services"
- Jeff Haas, President

Haas Warehousing, has been in Haas family for 100 years, Jeff Haas contacted Ozark Energy Services looking for ways to reduce his electric bill. After a Lighting Audit, it was discovered that lighting alone was found to make up 90% of the energy use in the 180,000 square-foot building.

Despite their Metal Halide lighting system being only a few years old, the economics of an upgrade made it an obvious choice. Light levels and distribution were improved considerably despite more than a 50% reduction in lighting power consumption. Office fixtures were also upgraded to T8 and incandescent exit lights replaced with LED lighting fixtures. Since components for animal feed are frequently stored at the facility, tube-guards were installed over lamps, providing glass-breakage protection that was not there before.

In total, this project took 35 kilowatts off the grid and reduced annual energy consumption by 130,000 kilowatt-hours. Assuming coal fired power (which makes up 85% of Missouri’s energy production) this translates to over 185,000 lbs of abated CO2 emission reduction per year – the equivalent of planting 25 acres of trees or taking 15 cars off the road.

The Empire District Electric Company provided a rebate of $20,000 for the project and the project will pay for itself in three years through $12,000 in annual energy savings. Further savings are found indirectly through reduced maintenance, since Ozark Energy Services installed ballasts with a five-year warranty, as well as is providing the first year of service at no cost, and supplied extra lamps for spot replacement after the maintenance period ends.
